Odisha forms panel for welfare of transgenders

To ensure welfare of the transgender community, Odisha government has formed a 16-member panel, which also comprises some members of the community.
The Social Security and Empowerment department will discuss all matters relating to the transgenders with the State Level Representative Committee from time to time.
All Odisha Eunuch Association president Pratap Kumar Sahoo has been appointed as the chairman of the 16-member Committee.
The committee has been asked to suggest four transgender persons from each district for formation of the District TG Certification Committee and four transgenders for State TG Certification Committee by end of October, a government order said.
Earlier, the state government has decided to implement five schemes for the transgender persons launched by the Central government.
