The direction in this regard was issued by the Chief Minister when he reviewed performance of the school and mass education department.
"The Chief Minister has sought a report on the proposed Teachers Recruitment Board within one month," S&ME minister Debi Prasad Mishra said.
Stating that all the gram panchayats in the state now have high schools, Mishra said efforts were on to set up one model school in each block of Odisha.
On the proposed model schools, Mishra said of the 314 blocks in the state, 111 such model schools would be opened in the first phase followed by 51 in the second phase.

The Chief Minister has directed the development commissioners to monitor implementation of such model schools, he said.
The minister maintained that the students of class X were now being provided with free bicycles which benefited 16.50 lakh students so far and said the schools were also being given grant for infrastructural development and priorities given to tribal and minorities schools.
"The Chief Minister has also suggested to make special programmes for girl education and teachers' training," Mishra added.
