Odisha's southern and coastal districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall in view of a low pressure being created in the Bay of Bengal, a Met office bulletin said here today.
"A cyclonic circulation over West Central Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood areas has turned into a low pressure that has formed over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast at 8.30 am today," it said.
Under its influence, the Met office said that rain or thundershower would occur at many places in the state with heavy rainfall at one or two places over districts of south and coastal district during next 24 hours.
Gusty surface wind speed reaching 35-55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast during the period, the release said, while warning fishermen to be cautious while venturing into sea.
