Odisha's minister for Industries and School and Mass Education Debi Prasad Mishra had a tough time today when he visited the Utkal University campus here to attend a meeting.
The angry students who have been demanding provision of wi-fi in the campus, hurled objects at the minister's cavalcade, a police official said.
"Some people were trying to throw eggs at the minister. They have been taken away by the police. I have no idea about the number of people being picked up by the police," Dr Ashok Kumar Das, Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University said.
The minister, however, claimed that he has not seen anybody hurling eggs at him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Satyabrata Bhoi said, "Two youths were detained by police on charge of creating disturbance during the minister's visit. But no egg was hurled."
The police official said a group of eight to ten students came in front of the minister's vehicle and pelted objects when the vehicle slowed down, few meters away from the varsity gate.
