The opposition has been targeting Tarai ever since allegations were made that he manipulated the victory of his wife Babita Tarai as a panchayat samiti member of Penthapal gram panchayat.
The candidature of two other women candidates contesting the elections against Tarai's wife were withdrawan without their knowledge.
The State Election Commission (SEC) has removed Pattamundai BDO from the election process after the two women candidates alleged that their nomination papers were withdrawn without their knowledge.
The opposition parties have, in the mean time, intensified their protest against the Kendrapara legislator.

While the Congress has demanded resignation of the MLA and a civil suit against him for allegedly using the BDO to taper the election process, the BJP has brought allegations of criminal conspiracy against Tarai.
"The MLA should be booked under section 120 of IPC for conspiraing to fradulently withdraw candidature of two other women conesting against his wife," said OPCC president Prasad Harichandan.
