Odisha Police today began its probe into the circulation of photographs of Lord Jagannath's secret ritual like 'Brahma Paribartan' and burial of old idols of the deities of Puri temple during the Nabakalebara festival in the social media.
A three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the crime branch led by Inspector A K Nayak visited the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration office at Puri during the day.
As none other than specific Daitapati priests have seen the Brahma, it is essential to take record their statements to ascertain its (Brahma's) authenticity.
It was alleged that some members of the Daitapati Nijog (union) had taken mobile phones to the restricted areas during 'Brahma Paribartan' and 'Patali' (burial of old idols) on June 15-16. SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra had earlier confirmed that at least two priests carried mobile phones to the temple.
SJTA, a government body, had also said that the photographs doing rounds on social media and claiming to be that of the secret rituals of Lord Jagannath were "completely fictitious".
