Odisha Police CID, CB to probe suspected ISI spy case
Press Trust of India Bhubaneswar Odisha Police's CID and crime branch (CB) was today handed over the investigation of a case involving the alleged links between Ishwar Chandra Behera, a contractual photographer of Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur, and the Pakistan's ISI.
"A three-member team of the crime branch has already been sent to Balasore which will take custody of the lensman. Behera is in police custody for seven days," said CB ADG B K Sharma.
Behera was arrested on January 23 for allegedly passing secret information to the ISI.
He was allegedly in constant touch with his Kolkata based handler and others, including some based outside the country, and had been passing on highly sensitive information about missile tests to the ISI, police had said.
"Money had been transferred to his SBI account in Chandipur on several occasions in the recent past through money order and internet banking," A K Panigrahi, the IGP (northen range) had earlier said.
