Odisha's own tax revenue collection recorded an increase of 10.19 per cent over last year's performance by end of August.
While the amount of revenue collection by August last year was Rs 5889 crore, it increased to Rs 6489.13 crore this time, a release by Chief Secretary G C Pati's office said today.
There has been 21.68 per cent hike in the collection of professional tax over the last year's collection of Rs 56.44 crore. Similarly, collection from land revenue has increased by 18.60 per cent over last year collection of Rs 119.97 crore during this time.
Tax collection from vehicles, excise and electricity duties have also increased by 23.88 per cent, 25.50 per cent and 22.47 per cent respectively, the release said.
While reviewing revenue augmentation from various sources, Pati has suggested the departments concerned to settle tax and royalty disputes through mutual and bilateral discussions than that of registering cases.
It has been decided that a systematic survey of various types of dealers would be conducted regularly and legal steps would be taken against those who dodge sales tax.
