Odisha sizzles, Bhubaneswar temp soars to 41.8 C

Heat wave conditions intensified in Odisha today with the mercury soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in many places with Bhubaneswar recording the hottest at 41.8 deg C.
The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 41.3 degree Celsius yesterday, which rose 0.5 degrees today, the MeT department said here.
The entire state, particularly the western region, experienced gruelling heat as the maximum temperature in Titlagarh as well as Bhawanipatna was recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius, followed by 41.3 degrees in Angul, it said.
In Baripada and Malkangiri mercury touched 40.8 degrees Celsius, in Sambalpur and Talcher it was 40.5 degree, Jharsuguda (40.3), Phulbani (40.2), Hirakud (40.1) Balangir (40), it said.
The MeT office predicted the heat wave conditions to prevail in some areas of coastal and north interior part of the state over the next two days.
