Odisha to get Central assistance for 'Swadesh Darshan' scheme

With a long coastline of about 480 km in the state, Odisha will get an assistance of Rs 76.5 crore by the Centre's for development of its coastal circuit under 'Swadesh Darshan' scheme, officials said.
The coastal circuit comprised Gopalpur, Tampara, Barakul and Satapada, they said adding about Rs 15.3 crore has been released as the first installment for the purpose.
Infrastructure growth and beach development will be the priority on circuit tourism in the state, Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said.
He said that although Odisha was included in the scheme, till date no project was approved but demand of the state government had been considered recently for tourism development in the above mentioned places which would be a major boost for the state tourism.
Roads, water sports, jetty, water park, solar street lighting, floating restaurants will be included in the development activities. Besides, tourist reception centres would be opened at all these places, Panda said.
Sand art and maritime museum would come up at Gopalpur while implementation of solid waste management and sewage treatment plant has been mooted there.
