The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting presided over by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here. "We have decided to make at least two lakh youths employable every year by imparting vocational training to them," the sources aid after the meeting.
The government has also decided to set up at least five ITIs and 10 Skill Development Centres (SDC) in Maoist-hit five districts on priority basis. The districts identified to get new ITIs and SDCs are: Sambalpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Deogarh and Gajapati.
As the state required an estimated 1.35 crore skilled man power in wake of the increased industrial activities, the official said that different industrial houses had been asked to set up Industrial Training Centres (ITCs) as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR).
The unemployed youths would be imparted skill development training on construction, driving, security service, health service, hospitality, manufacturing, IT, retail, telecommunication and others, he said.
