Odisha to use CAMPA fund for road construction in forest area

In the wake of the death of 19 children at a hilltop village in Jajpur district allegedly due to malnutrition, the Odisha government today decided to provide road connectivity to remote habitations inside forest areas from Campa funds.
The decision in this regard was taken at the meeting of the State level Steering Committee of State CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority) held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary A P Padhi. The SLSC approved projects for utilization of the interest incurred from CAMPA fund.
The juang tribal residents of Nagada village faced malnutrition as they could not get ration under the NFSA due to lack of connectivity to their place.
The projects and activities of worth Rs 54 crore received the approval of the committee.
