A proposal on the Student Traffic Volunteer Scheme was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The students of colleges and Universities can help the police personnel in manning traffic during peak hours of the day.
"A student can maximum devote three hours per day for managing the traffic in the twin cities. They will get incentive for their service. The amount will be directly deposited in their bank accounts," said a home department official.
The selected student volunteers would be made aware of traffic rules before being engaged in traffic management, he said.
