Odisha win boys' hockey gold, Haryana bag girls' title

Odisha clinched the men's boys hockey gold after a 2-1 victory over Punjab while Haryana bagged the girls' title after beating Jharkhand by an identical margin in the summit clash of the Khelo India School Games here today.
The Odisha boys, who had beaten Punjab 3-0 in the league stage, once again dominated the final match, proving that their previous victory over their rivals was no fluke.
In fact, the scoreline do not reflect the domination by Odisha who could have won by a much bigger margin.
Chandigarh boys won the bronze after beating Uttar Pradesh 5-1.
In the morning, a goal in the dying moments by Anu helped Haryana pip Jharkhand 2-1 in the girls' hockey final. It was Jharkhand, who struck first and led 1-0 at half time, but the Haryana girls struck back later, scoring twice in the second half.

Punjab won the bronze after beating Chandigarh 5-4.

In archery, Haryana grabbed the lions share of medals on the final day of competition. The four gold medals on offer were shared by Haryana, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab.
All four sets of medals were decided on the final day. Overall, Haryana emerged with the best haul of five medals, including one gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
In weightlifting, Mohammed Anas of Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir's Bavleen Kaur hogged the limelight on final day of gymnastics events.
Anas added a fourth gold to his kitty by nailing the horizontal bars event.

Kaur stole the limelight in rhythmic gymnastics with two gold in ribbon and clubs and a bronze in ball to add to the silver she won in the all-round yesterday.
The Jammu girl's four medal-haul lifted her state to the 19th place on the medal charts with five medals in all.
Meanwhile, Arambam Anju Devi gave Manipur their fifth weightlifting gold.
Anju Devi and Bhartveer of Delhi won gold medals in the girls' and boys' over-69kg and over-94kg class respectively as the weightlifting competition concluded at the Indira Gandhi Stadium today.
Manipur were adjudged the top team with five gold and one silver, though Maharashtra had 19 medals, of which three were gold. There were 15 gold medals on offer in the weightlifting competition.

Among individual lifters, Trupti Mane and Achinta Sheuli, both of Maharashtra, were adjudged the best girl and best boy weightlifters of the competition.
In judo, Haryana added two more gold medals on the final day to push their total tally from the sport to 12, including five gold, one silver and six bronze medals to completely dominate the mat.
Two of the four gold medals on offer on the last day went to Delhi and Maharashtra.
Overall, Haryana won five of the 16 gold contested for, while Punjab won three. Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat and Manipur won two each.
In basketball, Punjab and Kerala won the boys' and girls' gold medals.

Punjab beat Delhi 78-76 in a thrilling summit clash at the KD Jadhav Stadium.
The boys' final contrasted the girls' contest which Kerala won comfortably against Haryana 90-47.
