Officials authorised to reward people giving power theft info

The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has authorised its officers to sanction cash reward to people providing information on electricity theft, pilferage of material and corruption.
The Superintending Engineer (Operation) can sanction and disburse rewards up to Rs 10,000 while the Chief Engineer (Operation) up to Rs 25,000 in a case, an official spokesman said here today.
Similarly, the Director (Technical) has the authority to sanction rewards up to Rs 50,000 and the Managing Director up to Rs 1 lakh in a case, he said, adding whole tome Directors have powers to sanction Rs 5 lakh rewards.
The competent authority will use its discretion and sanction cash reward in the best interests of the DHBVN to improve general efficiency, increase revenue, and reduce loss and illegal activities.
A written communication in this regard has been sent to all Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisional Officers of the Operation Wing, Junior Engineers-I and In-charge Sub Office in the utility, he said.
