Officials remove shops on the sides of temple

: In line with a High Court order, citing security threat, officials of Sri Dhandayuthapaniswamy temple today began removing shops located on the sides of the Hill steps, despite protests from tenants.
They said some shops had been sub-let and many shop owners were selling Narcotic items, causing problems to the temple administration. Besides the High Court had ordered removal of the shops as they posed a threat to temple security
Police said all shops would be removed by this evening and temple adminstration would take charge of the vacated areas.
