"The government will not tolerate any official being lax or slack while implementing schemes and the government will soon punish such officials," Chief Minister Hemant Soren said while addressing a function to mark the fortnight-long foundation day celebrations of the state.
Expressing disappointment at the sorry state of affairs in villages, Soren said, "Even today conditions in the villages remained unchanged."
He said his government's priority is to make villages self-reliant, adding it would be dishonest to talk about development unless conditions of farmers, labour force and other sections of the society were not improved.
