Officials start clearing damaged shops in temple premises

In line with the Madras High Court orders, officials of Sri Meenakshi temple, assisted by police, today started clearing the shops which were damaged in the recent fire in the shrine's premises.
The shop keepers also cooperated with the temple administration and removed the articles.
The court had ordered shopkeepers inside the temple here to vacate before noon today in view of the fire at Vasantharayar mandapam in the premises.
The shops vacated from the temple would be accommodated at the Kunnathur Chatiram in a shopping complex, temple officials said.
