The light fly weight (48kg) boxer from Manipur is being touted as the next M C Mary Kom of Indian women's boxing and OGQ will support the 18-year-old's training besides providing her with a monthly stipend.

"She is the future of Indian women's boxing because in just her first senior national event, she defeated established boxers in her category to get gold," OGQ COO Viren Rasquinha told reporters at a promotional event at the British High Commissioner's residence to mark 100 days to the London Olympics.

The Manipuri, who idolises Mary Kom, took up boxing in 2005 and is also pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

"I am the first boxer from my family and my parents have been extremely supportive of my decision. I always wanted to be in sports and since a boxing academy was near my house, I decided to take up the gloves," she said chuckling.

"I look up to Mary didi and even take tips from her," she added.

Rasquinha said OGQ decided to support her as the diminutive boxer has it in her to be among India's Olympic contingent for the 2016 edition.

"She could well be replacing Mary (also associated with OGQ) in the next Olympics," said Rasquinha.
