Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has sought a report from the Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police (DCP) within three weeks on the mysterious death of a private B-school girl student.
OHRC working chairperson B K Mishra while hearing a petition yesterday asked the DCP to conduct a thorough inquiry into the death of Tanya Banerjee and submit a report on it within three weeks.
The next hearing on the case is due on December 26.
The statements of DAV Business Management (DSBM) student Tanya Banerjees mother Keya Banerjee was recorded at the capital police station here on Wednesday.
Keya Banerjee alleged that her daughter suffered physical and mental torture by some hostel inmates which forced her to commit suicide.
The girl was found hanging in her hostel room on November 28 and the post mortem report received by police on December 5 had revealed that she died of asphyxiation after hanging herself.
