The government has asked state-owned oil companies to hold special camps in flood-hit Chennai to replace documents of LPG connections as well as cylinders lost in the natural calamity at concessional rates.
Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan "has instructed the oil marketing companies to provide all possible relief to the flood and rain ravaged people of Chennai," an official statement said.
For documents lost in the floods, the companies will organise a special camp for issue of documents on priority basis.
In cases where cylinders are lost, the companies will charge a nominal Rs 200 per cylinder from BPL families for the replacement.
For APL families, the affected ones will have to pay Rs 1,200, the manufacturing cost of a cylinder, for the replacement.
"The above proposed measures to be undertaken by the companies are expected to provide necessary relief to the affected and distressed people," the statement added.
