Protesting against stock limit for edible oils and oilseeds imposed by Rajasthan, traders today threatened to go on indefinite strike after Sunday if the state government does not withdraw the order.
Traders in 247 mandis across the state were on two-day strike, called by Rajasthan Khadya Padarth Vyapar Sangh, since yesterday to protest against the government notification issued on November 23.
"Our strike in all the 247 mandis and dal and oil mills was successful yesterday and today. A meeting of traders from all over the state was held today to discuss the issue in which it was decided that we should observe an indefinite strike after Sunday if the government does not withdraw the notification," Sangh president Babulal Gupta said.
He demanded from the government to withdraw the orders with immediate effect.
"If the government takes no action in next three days, we will hold another meeting on Sunday and announce the indefinite strike. We have intimated this to all the traders."
The government imposed a stock limit on mustard, taramira, rapeseed, toria and raida oilseeds on Monday.
A wholesaler has been allowed to keep stock of 1,000 quintals while a retailer can keep a stock of 100 quintals.
The stock limit for mustard, rapeseed, raida and toria oils is 100 quintals and 10 quintals respectively for wholesalers and retailers.
