Old age pension offers social security: Minister

All eligible persons would be covered under the old age pension scheme under which a monthly assistance of Rs 1,100 is extended, Puducherry Welfare Minister P Rajavelu said today.
Handing over the assistance to 250 elderly people at nearby Embalam, he said the scheme had been evolved to ensure social security to the aged.
Rajavelu said the Department of Women and Child Development operating the scheme was keen about covering all the eligible aged persons.
He also handed over Rs 1,100 to each of 13 widows and also to each of 10 destitute women on the occasion.
