A dilapidated old bridge over Barakar river in Giridih district collapsed today and a truck fell into the river, police said.
The Giridih district administration had already banned plying of vehicles over the bridge as it was in a dilapidated condition and a new bridge has already been constructed, they said.
The bridge collapsed as the driver of the maize-laden truck drove the vehicle over it, they said.
The local people rescued the driver and rushed him to Sadar hospital, they said.
