Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghuvar Das today emphasised on the need for completion of incomplete irrigation projects rather than taking up new one in the state.
"The government has asked the officials concerned to complete the old and incomplete irrigation projects first before taking up new ones in the state, Das said while addressing party workers at the Mahatama Gandhi Town Hall in Medininagar of Palamau district.
Over 40 per cent of the population of the state was living below poverty line in a state which has abundance of mineral resources, he said.
"We wanted to bring in some change and develop the state on all fronts," Das said adding the state government has taken initiatives in this regard.
"We have plans to provide drinking water from Sone and Ganga rivers to Palamau and Santhal ParganasMEET regions of the state," he said.
As far as drinking water supply from the Ganga was concerned, he said the feasibility report was ready in this regard.
