Oldest Indian woman mountaineer sets sight on 7 summits

A homemaker and mother of two daughters, 48-year-old Premlata has scaled Mt Everest (29,035 ft), Killimanjaro (19,334 ft), Aconcagua (22,841 ft), Elbrus (18,442 ft) Europe and Carstensz Pyramid (16,023 ft) Indonesia.

Premlata who began climbing at the age of 35, hopes to scale the remaining two summits -- Vinson Massif (Antarctica) and Mount McKinley (North America) by next year.

Success in the two expeditions will ensure a place for Premlata in the Hall of Fame of mountaineers and she would also become the first Indian woman and one the oldest women in the world to conquer all the seven summits.

Tata Steel will be sponsoring her expedition with Rs 80 lakh.
