Ace shooter and Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore will lead a marathon - 'Run for Unity' - here on December 15, the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The marathon will be inaugurated by BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Vadodara.
The marathon, which would be held across the country, will take place in all the 33 districts of Rajasthan at 8 AM.
Rathore, who joined the BJP before the Rajasthan assembly polls, said preparations for the run are in place and thousands of people, including school and college students, will participate in the event. "Around 2,500 people have registered for the run so far," he said.
Besides, enthusiasts can register themselves via on-spot registration and on-line registration facilities. "This will be a non-political event," Rathore said. He said that this will be a unique event with a high number of participants.
"We expect that over 10 lakh people would participate in the marathon. This will be a record in itself and officials of Guinness World Records are also in touch with the organisers," he said.
Madan Saini, who is the state convener of a campaign under which old farming tools and a sample of the soil will be collected from villages for constructing Patel's statue near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Gujarat, said that responsible persons have been deputed at division levels to coordinate the campaign in the state.
