Omar announces compensation for kin of 15 accidents victims

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today announced ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh each for the next of the kin of 15 people, who were killed in two road accidents in the state yesterday.
"The chief minister sanctioned ex-gratia relief of Rs one lakh each for the deceased in the two accidents in Srinagar and Kishtwar yesterday claiming 15 lives," an official spokesman said.
The chief minister also sanctioned Rs 10,000 each for the injured, the spokesman said.
He said Omar expressed grief over the accidents and conveyed solidarity to the bereaved families.
While seven persons were killed in a head-on collision between an army vehicle and a cab on Srinagar-Baramulla district, eight passengers including two police officers were killed when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a gorge in Kishtwar district.
