"Smokers should pledge to quit smoking and join the anti-tobacco campaign with non-smokers and volunteers and work for creating a tobacco-free society," Omar said addressing an anti-tobacco seminar here.

The seminar was organised by Voluntary Health Association of India and JK Voluntary Health and Development Association.

Omar said his government would take all necessary steps to check use of tobacco and cigarettes in the state. "Creation of a tobacco free society is need of the hour," he said.

The Chief Minister said there was a need for mass awareness campaign to highlight the grave health hazards caused by smoking.
