Omar holds review of big-ticket projects in J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today reviewed the status of several 'big ticket' projects in the state and directed the implementing agencies to ensure timely completion of the same.
"The progress of work on hospitals, bridges, flyovers and water-supply, drainage and sewerage projects, besides Asia Development Bank-funded schemes, need regular monitoring so that their completion is ensured as per schedule," Omar said at a high-level meeting here.
The CM was briefed by secretaries of various departments about the status of works ranging from construction of medical facilities and museums to water supply and sewerage projects.
He was also apprised about work on several bridge and road-building projects.
He took stock of the water supply scheme at Tangnar, which is being developed at a cost of Rs 148.37 crore, and another one at Sukhnag worth Rs 121 crore, an official spokesman said after the meeting.
The CM got an appraisal report on the Rs 351 crore Jahangir Chowk-Rambagh-Natipora flyover and was also briefed about the rehabilitation programme for the shopkeepers who would be affected by the said project.
He was also told about progress made on the Srinagar Drainage Project, costing Rs 350 crore, and the Rs 110 crore Srinagar Sewerage Project, the spokesman added.
