"There is need to ensure placement of trained youths in the corporate sector and that can be realised when the private sector is actively involved in the process of skill upgradation," Omar, who is also Chairman of the Mission, said at the review meeting.
He said the concerned state government departments should take up the matter of roping in NHPC, Railways, National Highway Authority, State Power Development Corporation, J&K Bank and other similar companies to set up ITIs under their corporate social responsibilities.
They can train youths of Jammu and Kashmir in these ITIs in the trades in which they need work force. "This would ensure placement of educated boys and girls in these companies," he said.
In a PowerPoint presentation, the Chief Minister was given an overview of the roadmap for upgrading skills of 9.10 lakh youth during the next five years.
The meeting was informed that under the technical education sector, 2.77 lakh youths are being trained in various skills while in Tourism Department the target is fixed at 14,667.
The Industries and Commerce Department will train 1.34 lakh persons, Rural Development Department 9500, Horticulture Department 1.50 lakh, Information Technology Department 98,000, Health and Medical Education Department 75,000, Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department 30,000 and under the Udan Programme 37,000 youth are being trained.
