Omar, who dashed to Srinagar from winter capital Jammu, was briefed about relief extended to fire-sufferers living in Hazratbal's Dhobighat locality at a high-level meeting here, an official spokesman said.
The Chief Minister has sanctioned relief of Rs 20,000 each to 32 families whose houses were gutted on December 30.
At least 14 houses, two boats and five wooden structures were gutted in the devastating blaze.
The Chief Minister was told that under his direction his Advisor Qamar Ali Akhoon visited the affected families and handed over cheques to them.
He was told that relief and rehabilitation operations for fire-affected families were in full swing, the spokesman said.
Omar also got first hand information about restoration of important public services and mitigation of difficulties which arose due to heavy snowfall in the area.
