Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today criticised the Mehbooba Mufti-led government for "misplacing priorities" and blaming others for its "failures", shortly after Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) elected state sports minister Imran Ansari as its president.
"#BJPDP government has help (held) J&K cricket association elections to have their minister elected chairman (president).Bravo @MehboobaMufti, well done!!!!(sic)," Omar tweeted.
In a series of tweets, he questioned the elections at a time when the Valley is going through unrest triggered by the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani by security forces on July 8.
"With such misplaced priorities is it any wonder that the Valley is in flames. @MehboobaMufti shows once again how totally lost she is," he wrote.
Ansari hit back at Omar, saying former chief minister should wake up to the "reality".
"So what in your opinion should have been done. Invite Farooq (Abdullah) sahib to perform the last rites of cricket in J & K?

"Neither is cricket your fief, nor KASHMIR. Those days are gone. The earlier you wake up to reality the better for you (sic)," Ansari shot back on Twitter.
Omar, in earlier tweets, had put a question mark on the leadership qualities of the incumbent Chief Minister and accused her of blaming others for the "failure" of the government.
"Leaving others to take the blame for all the decisions that fail is the worst leadership & @MehboobaMufti blames all her failures on others," he said.
Referring to media gag and the government's position that there was no ban on local newspapers, Omar said "If you needed an admission that NO ONE is in charge in Srinagar at the moment you got it from the advisor to the CM (sic)."
"Miscommunication". If that is all it was why did it take 48 hours to correct?", the National Conference working president questioned.
