The Direct Benefit Transfer of LPG Scheme entitles customers avail the LPG subsidy into their bank accounts. The modified scheme by the Union Government was launched in November 15.
"DBTL Scheme is being launched in Tamil Nadu with effect from Jan 1, 2015. Tamil Nadu is one of the states where LPG penetration is 85 per cent. Oil industry wants all consumers to take the benefit of the subsidy by enrolling into the DBTL system", Indian Oil Corporation Executive Director U V Mannur told reporters.
Urging consumers to get registered, he said they must be aware that Aadhar Card is not mandatory for it and even bank account can be accepted.
Mannur said Ariyalur district tops with 60 per cent of customers getting registered under DBTL while only 22 per cent of customers in Chennai have got themselves registered.

For getting clarifications and details about the scheme, the OMCs have set up call centre facilities. IOC customers can call 044-2433 9236, BPCL customers at 2621 5575 and HPCL customers at 044-2498 5153.
Consumers joining the scheme will start receiving LPG cylinders at the market price and subsidy amount in their respective bank accounts.
