The BJP said on Wednesday the Narendra Modi government has brought "revolutionary" changes in the education system, leading to preparation of a new generation of people to help build a new India.

To mark Teachers' Day, the Bharatiya Janata Party released a statement to highlight steps taken by its government in the field of education.

The overall education budget has gone up by 20 per cent, the party's media head Anil Baluni said, adding the government's emphasis has been on "quality of education and quantity of opportunities".

With the help of quality infrastructure, innovative initiatives and technology, an atmosphere has been created so that teachers could give their best to students, he said, adding world-class laboratories and resources are being set up in higher education sector with the help of Higher Education Finance Agency.

Baluni said the government has opened 103 new central schools and 62 Navoday schools in four years.

Referring to the government's 'Beti bachao, beti padhao' (save daughter, teach daughter) campaign, he said 3,700 hostels for girls have been built and separate toilets for them constructed at schools.

He also referred to 'Khelo India' scheme launched by the government with an aim to raise world-class sportspersons.
