Over 600 students along with faculty members of the Tanda Medical College here participated in an awareness rally to celebrate the World Environment Day, observed annually around on the globe on June 5, an official said.
Highlighting this year's theme 'beat plastic pollution', Bhanu Awasthi, Principal of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Tanda said: This year India is taking a lead in organizing World Environment Day events.
To spread awareness about the importance of the day among general public, around 600 MBBS and nursing students along with faculty members participated in a rally which was held in the college campus, Awasthi added.
Participants were carrying banners, posters and bags to spread the message.
Talking about the host of activities that the college organised, Awasthi said the focus was on information, education and communication activities.
Students participated in poster and bag making competitions as well as campus cleaning activities. Different groups of students and faculty members cleaned the five different sites on the campus of the college and hospital, Awasthi said.
