A court here today convicted one accused for the murder of the jailer of Jodhpur Central Jail in 2010, while acquitting three others for lack of evidence.
The court will pronounce the sentence on December 21.
District and Sessions court judge Manoj Kumar Vyas convicted Narendra Jat for fatally stabbing the jailer Bharat Bhushan Bhatt on the eve of September 18, 2010, and acquitted his accomplices Santosh, Rajan and Vikas alias Vikky, who had helped him in the attack, a counsel of an accused said.
Jat, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, and a murder convict serving life sentence, had stabbed Bhatt while Santosh, Rajan and Vikas overpowered the jailer.
Bhatt was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to the fatal stab wound.
The attackers were said to be enraged with Bhatt over some issue and were looking for an opportunity to settle scores.
