K Vanlaltluanga, vice president of the Hmuntha Village Council, died yesterday after eating fermented soya bean.
Those taken sick included wife and children of the deceased and the doctors opined that they were out of danger.
Food poisoning due to consumption of 'bekang' or fermented soya bean is not a new thing in Mizoram as some people ferment the beans which were preserved with insecticides.
