The deceased has been identified as Samar Dey (45), an employee of Dhanbad Division of the East Central Railway zone, while two others were Subhash Bannerji and Sonu Tiwary, the police said.
The incident occurred in Hirapur Hatia (daily market) near the official residence of Dhanbad Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) under Dhanbad sadar police station.
The trio had purchased the country made liquor from a licensed wine shop in Hatia and drank in an adjacent hut, the police said.
Sadar police station Inspector Arvind Kumar and his team reached the spot and sent all three to Patliputra Medical College Hospital, where Dey was declared brought dead.
The police collected samples of the liquor packets and have sealed the wine shop. The owner of wine shop has been taken into custody for interrogation.
