One held for felling rosewood tree

One person was arrested today, for felling a rosewood tree from a prohibited area at Pallipadi near Gudalur.
Vishwanathan was allegedly trying to smuggle the tree in his van and forest department officials at checkpost stopped the vehicle and seized it, forest department sources said.
The value of the seized tree has been put at Rs five lakh, sources said.
