One held for grabbing govt land valued at around Rs 1,200 cr

One person wanted in connection with alleged grabbing of government land valued at around Rs 1,200 crore was arrested today, taking the total number of those nabbed in connection with the case to four, police said.
Khaleelul Rahman was arrested today. Earlier, three persons - Balaji, Baskar and Murughiah Pandian had been arrested in connection with the case, a city police release here said.
On a complaint of Sivasuryan to the Chief Minister's special cell that some persons had grabbed 66 acres of government land in suburban Pallikaranai using forged documents, a case was registered in the Central Crime Branch, the release said.
Balaji allegedly forged a Government Order to show that the land was allotted to his grandfather by the British government and managed to get a patta based on that, it said.
Baskar started a trust to use the land in its name and the other two accused persons were involved in forging documents, it added.
