One held in Uttam Nagar jewellery store robbery case: Police

The police have arrested a man in connection with a jewellery store robbery committed by armed assailants at south-west Delhi's Uttam Nagar, it said today.
Dildar Mishra (27), a resident of Phase 5, Om Vihar in Uttam Nagar, was arrested on July 17. An automatic pistol, live cartridges and a stolen mobile phone of the jewellery store owner were also seized from his possession.
On May 6, a complaint was lodged at the Uttam Nagar police station by the owner of the jewellery showroom, who alleged that three unidentified men carrying pistols entered his shop at Mohan Garden and robbed jewellery worth around Rs 9-10 lakh by holding the workers at gunpoint.
Multiple teams were formed to crack the case and CCTV footage was collected from the nearby areas, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south-west) Surender Kumar.
The footage was sent to a forensic laboratory for enhancement of the picture quality.
Subsequently, it was circulated among all the units of Delhi Police. Leaflets with the description of the culprits and the vehicle used in the crime were also distributed in the area with an assurance of reward for those providing valuable inputs, said Kumar.

The police also questioned those with criminal antecedents in the area.
On July 17, following a tip-off, the police arrested Mishra from near the Durga temple in Uttam Nagar.
The accused confessed to his involvement in the crime and also disclosed the names of his other accomplices, Ravi and Shanu, said the DCP.
A hunt was on to nab the other accused, he added.
