Six persons have been arrested in connection with incident which is said to be due to rivalry between two gangs.
One person, identified as Surinder Singh, received bullet injuries in his leg when the members of a rival gang fired upon him inside the court complex at Janipur area of the city this afternoon, police said.
"So far we have arrested six accused in this connection. A case has been registered," SSP (Jammu) Uttam Chand said.
He said the in-charge of the police post concerned has been placed under suspension whereas the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Janipur police station has been transferred for alleged dereliction of duty.

"Taking cognisance of the case, I have ordered suspension of Dalip Singh, in-charge of the police post at High Court Janipur. It was dereliction of duty or else how can assailants enter the court complex armed with weapons," the SSP said.
A case has been registered in connection with the case and six accused, identified as Davinder Singh, Jasvinder Singh, Karanjit Singh, Rajinder Sharma, Ranjodh Singh and Paranvat Singh, have been arrested so far.
Police recovered one pistol and five live rounds and one empty cartridge from the possession on Davinder Singh, the SSP said, adding that Singh was also carrying a sharp- edged weapon with him.
The injured received the bullet injury on his leg and was shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for treatment.
