A strong contingent of police personnel was on the spot and trying to control the situation, police said, adding, 10 people have been arrested in this connection.
Ruling Trinamool Congress and BJP have blamed each other for the incident, police said.
The incident took place at Makra village which is adjacent to Chakmondola where the officer-in-charge of Parui police station was attacked during a raid on October 24.
A team of local BJP leaders was yesterday stopped by the police from entering Chakmondola village on the ground that prohibitory orders under section 144 CrPC had been imposed there.
