One leopardess dead

A seven-year-old leopardess was electrocuted in Pratapnagar area of Tehri district, officials said today.
The charred body of the animal was found yesterday near an electric sub-station, Divisional Forest Officer, Tehri, R P Mishra said.
The body has been sent for postmortem, he said.
In another incident, a minor girl sustained severe injuries after being attacked by a leopard in Jakhnidhar area in Tehri last evening, forest official sources said.
Eight-year-old Ridhima was playing in the courtyard of her house in Pipola village when the leopard attacked her and dragged her to a nearby forest, they said.
On hearing her cries for help, the parents and villagers rushed to the spot and rescued the girl but she was severely injured in the attack, they said, adding, the leopard then went away.
The girl has been admitted to a nearby hospital.
