Supply of power in various areas in Wazirpur in North West Delhi is expected to improve as Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited today commissioned grid substation built at a total cost of Rs 11 crore.
The 220/33 kV grid sub-station, set up as part of the discom's efforts to enhance distribution infrastructure, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the presence of Union Minister Kapil Sibal.
The grid substation will provide additional 200 MVApower source to Wazirpur Industrial Area, Trinagar, Ashok Vihar, Rampura and Shahazada Bagh areas benefiting approximately two lakh consumers.
Earlier, these areas were provided power through 220 Kv Shalimar Bagh grid.
"This is the third major grid sub-station commissioned by TPDDL this month. Like the previous ones, this one is also equipped with the next generation power distribution technology. I believe, such steps by TPDDL towards network augmentation will go a long way in providing reliable power supply to people," Dikshit said.
Speaking at the function, TPDDL CEO Praveer Sinha said the company was using the best of distribution technology to provide world class service to consumers.
"The new grid is in line with our focus towards providing N-1 power supply to our customers, meaning a technical problem or overloading at one place should not affect supply in other areas", he said.
