Workers engaged in renovation of a 12th century temple near here today found a underground chamber in a sub-temple, the second such finding since last month,.
The chamber with a depth of five feet was found when the workers were breaking open the granite floor of the Lord Muruga shrine in the Lord Tirukameeswarar temple in Villianoor, temple Executive Officer Manohar said.
Earlier on July 29, the workers unearthed a chamber with 15 feet depth in another sub-temple.
The chamber found today was also made of bricks and had images of Nardhana Vinayakar, a fish and a curved shape of moon (crescent) inscribed on its side walls.
A full study was being done to collect indological and historical features of the shrine.
