Yesterday, two students, aged 18 and 17, had stabbed their teacher, Mukesh Kumar in a fit of rage after he reprimanded them for low attendance.
The students were apprehended from near their home in Kirari in the wee hours of this morning, said Dependra Pathak, joint commissioner of police (Southwest).
They had stabbed the teacher in front of their classmates and fled from the spot. The injured teacher was rushed to Sri Balaji Action Hospital where he succumbed late last night.
"The duo happen to be close friends and are class 12 students. They were undisciplined and used to remain absent from their classes. The victim was their class teacher and used to ask them to fall in line. The juvenile had been rusticated from the school once and was brought back and was again rusticated on account of his poor attendance on September 12. The other fellow was on the verge of being rusticated," said Pathak.

Following yesterday's incident, members of Government School Teachers' Association (GSTA) today protested on the Rohtak Road near the Government Senior Secondary School in Nangloi where the students had stabbed their teacher.
Close to 1,500 protesters blocked the road from 10 am today and were protesting till 3.30 pm.
"Their protest led to major traffic snarls between Peeragarhi and Mundka. Even though we made traffic diversions from Rani Khera village and from Peeragarhi, traffic movement was slow on the stretch. Traffic was also diverted onto some sub-lanes because of the protest. In the morning, the situation was worse but in the afternoon, situation eased out," said a senior traffic officer.
They also demanded better security in the schools and the deployment of Delhi Police constables.
The GSTA also demanded for the implementation of Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property Act in all Delhi schools.
The teachers' body also put forth other demands, which included the scrapping of Delhi Government's programme, Chunauti 2018, and the revision of powers of school management committees, that include parents and community members.
