The female child, weighing 2 kg, was born to Meena Kumari, at a primary health centre in Dugong Creek, Little Andamans, Deputy Director (tribal health) Dr R Thulasi said.
The mother and child are doing fine.
The Onges, a hunting community, have been inhabiting the Little Andamans for thousands of years located at a distance of 96 km south of Port Blair.
Like the other tribes of the A & N islands, they sustain on forest and sea-food resources.
The Onges adore their faces and body with a clay paste, a mixture of a type of clay, saliva and water used during various rituals.
