Online co's driver stages 'fake loot' of cash, arrested

A driver of an online major delivery van, who allegedly masterminded a "fake robbery" of the company's Rs 5.77 lakh last week in outer Delhi, was arrested by the Crime Branch, police said today.
Balwinder Singh, 19, and his two accomplishes, brother duo of Sudhir and Arun, were arrested near Mangolpuri Industrial Area on May 6, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner (Crime).
Balwinder, a driver of an Amazon.Com's van for collecting cash and delivery of parcels, had reported on May 3 that nine sealed cash parcels of the company which he had collected from collection centres in outer Delhi were "looted by bike-borne robbers" near Peeragarhi underpass.
The company officials sent him, with an employee, for filing a case and an FIR was registered at Mangolpuri police station, the officer said.
Crime Branch on specific input arrested Balwinder and the two brothers - Sudhir and Arun - who had played the role of fake robbers, and recovered Rs 4.57 lakh of the looted cash, that they were going to distribute among themselves.
The van Balwinder was driving was given by its owner on contract to Mahindra logistics, Old Gurgaon Road, that had further given it on contract to Amazon.Com, he said.
The trio had poor financial background and they wanted to become rich overnight, the officer added.
